- I'm using Lynx 2.4-FM on NetBSD 1.1, and whenever I click on a link
- which is a .lha file, it tries to display it as text instead of
- downloading it. It downloads .gif files as expected, however.
-
- What am I doing wrong?
-
- Probably nothing. The http server tells the client what type of file
- is being transfered. It usually decides this based on the extension
- of the file. If it doesn't recognize the extension, the default is
- typically text/plain. With lynx, you can hit "d" (I think) to
- download the link you are sitting on. If the server doesn't corrupt
- the file as it transfers it, that ought to work. Otherwise, try to
- find a way to ftp the file.
-
- I am the teaching assistant for a class that uses Word for Windows
- documents. The server doesn't recoginize the .doc extension, and I
- have the same problem. I solved it by making the links to the
- documents ftp URL's through the department's anonymous ftp server.
